Social Emotional Learning for Littles

As a school counselor, I specialize in nurturing preschool-aged children’s social, emotional, and behavioral growth through the power of play therapy. I also work closely with parents, offering personalized training and consultations to help navigate challenges at home and in the classroom. My new children’s book, If Goldfish Were Bluebirds, beautifully explores the essential themes of self-acceptance and self-love, inviting young readers to embrace the unique magic within themselves.

About the Author

Stephanie is a proud alumna of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Education. She continued her studies closer to home at SUNY New Paltz, completing a master’s degree in School Counseling. Shortly after graduating, she began her dream career, specializing in the unique social, emotional, and behavioral needs of preschool-aged children. With over a decade of experience in this field, Stephanie has made a meaningful impact in her work. She resides in the Hudson Valley, New York, with her husband and three children, including a lively set of twins who keep her on her toes.

Stephanie’s professional and personal lives often overlap in unexpected but rewarding ways. As someone who faced her own challenges growing up, she understands firsthand the longing to be someone or something different at times. Through both her life experiences and her work with children, she has come to recognize the transformative power of positive self-affirmations and embracing individual strengths.

Her debut children’s book, If Goldfish Were Bluebirds, was written during one of her most vulnerable moments—a period marked by insomnia, postpartum depression, and anxiety. In the quiet hours of the night, she channeled her struggles into a heartfelt story about self-acceptance and resilience. For Stephanie, the book serves as a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is still light and strength to be found.
